Hola mi amigos, and welcome to the third day of Loretta’s blog tour! I’m enjoying it so far, are you? Today we have an author interview. 😀
1) Hey Loretta! I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s start: when did you start writing?
Hmm… that’s actually a pretty hard question! I’ve written for a long time. Believe it or not, before I turned eight I hated writing, and then later I grew to love it. I’ve always tried to write novels since then, but my first attempts were ridiculous.
2) What inspired you to start writing?
Well, a lot of things! Once I got over the hating the writing part, I always had a way with words, writing diary entries, poems (though awful) and other such things. I can’t remember a specific moment where I thought I’m going to write a book, but I do know that at some point I had the idea.
3) When did you start writing The Lost Princess?
The fall of 2017, when I was barely fourteen.
4) Who has been your favorite character in The Lost Princess?
(Gracelyn! How could you ask that?)
Mason Wren has always been a ton of fun to write (always sparring with Cilla), along with Cilla Starling. I also really like Queen Villn, believe it or not, and (shh, haven’t told anyone this yet!) am working on a little prequel thing. We’ll see if I ever finish it!
5) Are any of the characters in The Lost Princess based off of yourself or people you know?
Well, sort of. All the characters have a little bit of me in them, although a lot of them have an extra bit of somebody. Some of them are mostly based off of the fairy tales too, so there’s always that.
6) What was the inspiration behind the setting for The Lost Princess?
Well, first there was the picture that inspired the book to start with, which featured a castle on an island. I knew I wanted to have an evil Queen, so naturally she had to have a Queendom, although the ideas for the other kingdoms didn’t develop until I was nearly halfway through the book. Other than that, it’s mostly a medieval world, although there are certain aspects that are defiantly fantasy. (although I will be the first to admit that you don’t see too much of that in The Lost Princess)
7) What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time? Well, read, for one, write, and blog. (I also play the piano, so sometimes I work on songs) I’m pretty much a couch potato… which is also why I’m in track and cross-country. (although I also enjoy things like building puzzles and finding cute outfits in my closet, although those are once-in-a-while things)
8) What is your favorite book?
Favorite book? (can I list two?) Ella Enchanted (Gail Carson Levine), and The Lunar Chronicles (Marissa Meyer). I do have to say that although I don’t always agree with the message of TLC, I do love the writing/fairy tale twist. (can you tell that I love fairy tales)
9) Who is your favorite author?
Hmm… that’s hard! I change my mind all the time. I’ve always liked Marissa Meyer, and Gail Carson Levine’s writing style, but at the same time I do love Louisa May Allcot’s writing and greatly admire Kellyn Roth’s writing! So, I guess all four of those, but for different reasons.
And that was day three of the blog tour! Tomorrow we have a character interview with Celeste. 😉 Be sure to join us!
